Point to Point races, possibly the North Staffordshire Hunt’s Point to Point Steeplechase held at Mucklestone.
This was a popular event at carnivals. Sometimes the result depended on technique, sometimes time and sometimes it was greased. Here a competitor is half way up the pole.
