Description:Photograph of a large clock mechanism, repaired or maintained by A.J. Thornton, clock and watch maker, Old Road, Stone in about 1950. This clock was made by Skerrett of Newcastle-under-Lyme in 1888. The Skerrett family ran a jewellery and clock and watch making business in Red Lion Square, Newcastle-under-Lyme from about 1880. From collection of photographs formerly belonging to A.J. Thornton, Clockmaker, Old Road, Stone.
