Description:The Windmill Inn stands (2023) on the A52, Ash Bank Road, a short distance from Werrington Windmill. The original Windmill Inn stood much closer to the windmill which is thought to have been built around 1730. The Inn began life as the home of the resident miller at the windmill. In 1851 a Mr Greatbach was listed in White’s Directory as being both miller and innkeeper. The miller in 1880 was William Forister, who took over the public house and turned it into one of the most popular hostelries in the area.
