Description:One of a series of views of excavations at the Roman site at Wall which took place between 1912 and 1914. This view shows a hypocaust (underfloor heating system) in what was at the time thought to be a villa. Subsequent research proved the building to be a 'mansio', or hostel. Postcard photographed and published by W. Morrison of Lichfield.
