Description:Class group and teacher at Marston Council School. Standing 2nd row from back, 2nd from right is Audrey James. In August 1922 Marston Wood House, a large Victorian house formerly occupied by Mr A.O. Jordan, was acquired for temporary school purposes for children from Marston and Whitgreave. Daisy E. Tinsley was appointed as headmistress, with Miss L.M. Tams and Mrs E. Parton as assistants. The school became established on a permanent basis and was variously known as Marston Council school, Marston Wood Council School and Woodhouse County Primary School before it closed in 1974.
