Description:The Blurton war memorial stands at a small road junction immediately outside St Bartholomew's church. It takes the form of a plain Celtic-style cross, with the carving of a sword superimposed on the arms and shaft. This echoes the design of Sir Edwin Lutyen's 'Cross of Sacrifice', which can be seen in Commonwealth War Grave Commission cemeteries. The cross sits upon a low stepped pedestal, which is inscribed with the names of the fallen from World War I.
