Description:This war memorial stands at the junction of John Street and Biddulph High Street, and takes the form of a commemorative statue mounted on a tall pedestal. The statue depicts a typical British infantryman of World War I, wearing a flat service cap and resting on his rifle 'reverse arms', a traditional military sign of mourning. The dedication inscription and the names of the local fallen can be found engraved around the four sides of the pedestal. As can be seen here, the figure has suffered a certain amount of erosion.
