Date:1900 - 1915 (c.)
Description:A postcard view of the Old Yew Tree which still stands (2022) on Church Lane, Church Mayfield. The adjacent house is known as The Yew Tree, once part of a working farm. On the right can be seen the tower of the Parish Church of St. John the Baptist, which is a Grade I listed building. This postcard was franked on 22 May 1923 and sent to an address in Buxton. However, it is thought that the postcard was published several years earlier, by F. W. Scarratt & Co., 114 Abbey Street, Derby. Francis William Scarratt was born at Hadley End near Yoxall but his parents moved to Derby when he was young. He was a wallpaper designer before becoming the proprietor of a stationery business.
