Description:A postcard view of Sunny Side which was built, probably in the early 1870s, for Joseph Simpson and his wife Agnes soon after he and his brother George leased Mayfield Mill in 1866.
In 1881 Joseph stated that he employed about 500 workers. His son, also Joseph continued to live here after his father's death in 1901 at which time Joseph junior was described as an Iron Bridge Engineer. In later years the house became a hotel known as Sunnyside. It was demolished in the early 21st century.
This photograph was taken by Charles Moscrop of Mayfield.
