Description:The student study bedroom blocks at Beatty Hall. These were built in phases from 1967 onwards and represented a huge improvement for the students who had previously been living in barrack buildings built in 1942. There were 8 bedrooms on each floor sharing two toilets, two showers and two bathrooms. Each bedroom was equipped with its own single bed, wash basin, desk and wardrobe. They were demolished in 2013 having been left empty for a number of years. The Yarnfield Park (North) residential development now stands on this area.

The General Post Office Engineering Department Central Training School opened in Yarnfield in 1946. It occupied buildings at Howard Hall, Duncan Hall and Beatty Hall, which had all acted as transit camps for United States Air Force personnel during the Second World War. In 1984 G.P.O. telephones became British Telecom. The Training Centre had a further change of name in 2002 when it became part of Accenture; British Telecom remain the centre's main customer.
