Description:Around the time of this photograph it seems the village school did not have enough space for all the children of middle school age and it that was planned to send them to school at Warslow school. The children's parents were not happy with this decision because of the dangers of winter travel, so it was arranged that these buildings at Cross Side Cottages on Back oth' Cross at the edge of the village were utilised as a temporary overspill school. The original 35mm slide images identify the site as 'Hogan's'. The Primary School in Flash closed in December 2012 having then only seven pupils and only one child born in the catchment area in the last ten years.
