Description:At the end of the First World War, when the New Zealand Rifle Brigade (NZRB) left the military camp on Cannock Chase, there was a farewell presentation and a parade through the streets of Stafford. In this postcard view Colonel Shepherd of the NZRB is pictured on the Market Square presenting a NZRB silk ensign to the Mayor of Stafford, Joseph Rushton. Behind Colonel Shepherd and in the centre of the picture is the official flag party. After the ceremony the parade marched through the town to Siemens' sports field where the soldiers took part in sports events, watched by members of the public. This postcard view was photographed by C E Fowke.
