Description:The pilot was Gustav Hamel, a pioneer aviator, who performed a flying display over Lammascote Fields at the request of Stafford Town Council. His monoplane was brought to Stafford by train and taken from the station through the streets to Lammascote. The man leaning on the plane was Martin Mitchell, one of the youngest members of the Borough Council, who invited Mr Hamel to perform in Stafford.
