At the time this photograph was taken Townsend House was the home of George Frederick Wilkes (1866-1942) and his wife Alberta Winifred. Winnie, pictured here, is probably their daughter Doris Winifred Wilkes, born 1898. George Wilkes was a bedstead manufacturer and farmer. Townsend House was demolished in the 1960s and the site is now occupied by Townsend Avenue and High Park Crescent.
