Description:A band leads the annual Sunday School festival procession down Stockwell Street towards the Market Place for the traditional hymn singing. The festival originated in the early 1800s, and took place on the first Sunday in September. It was known then as 'Cap Sunday' after the white caps trimmed with lace worn by the young girls taking part. The event later became 'Club Day', and took place annually on the first Friday in August. The date has since changed to the second Saturday in July.
