Description:The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester (to the right) being welcomed by Mr U. Roland Burke, President and Honorary Director of the Royal Agricultural Society of England (wearing a light coloured suit). They are pictured outside the Royal Pavilion at the Royal Show of 1937, held at Wrottesley Park.

The Royal Show was the country's most prestigious agricultural show and was first held in 1837. This was only the second time it was held in Staffordshire, the first being at Wolverhampton Race Course in 1871. The show was held for the last time in 2009, at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.
