Description:A group pictured on the occasion of Her Majesty's Inspector of Constabulary's visit to Staffordshire Police. He is inspecting officers and horses from Staffordshire Police’s Mounted Branch. They are pictured in the grounds of Baswich House, Weeping Cross, Stafford which is where Staffordshire Police's mounted stables were situated. The new police headquarters were not built in the grounds until 1960. From left to right (standing): Stanley Edwards Peck, Assistant Chief Constable; Harold Wallace-Copeland, Lord Lieutenant of the County of Stafford; Colonel G.W.R. Hearn, Chief Constable; Her Majesty's Inspector. Mounted on the horse is Inspector Greenland. Mr Peck became Chief Constable in 1960 until 1964, when he was appointed an Inspector of Constabulary.
