Description:Interior view of St. James the Less, the parish church of Longton. A large Commissioners' Church built in 1832-34 to designs by Thomas Johnson of Lichfield at a cost of £10,000. It was built to meet the needs of the rapidly expanding Longton population and as built could seat 2,000 people. In the 1990s the Parochial Church Council undertook a massive project to transform, modernise and develop the church into a community church at a cost of £546,508. The present church is a tribute to all those involved.
