Description:A postcard view of Tudor House at 77 High Street, Cheadle. Tudor House is a timber-framed building dating from 1558. In the panel on the right it is described as “Ye Olde House, Cheadle”.

This view shows Tudor House after restoration work which began in 1907. Prior to this date the building had been covered in stucco (plasterwork). During renovation oak beams were discovered and the stucco was removed to reveal all the original timbers to leave Tudor House as it remains today (June 2020).

This picture was taken by Bernard Lowndes who was a member of the Lowndes family of photographers who were established for several years at 19 High Street, Cheadle.
