Description:This is a copy map drawn from the original 1842 tithe map and award for Alrewas. The map shows field and property names. Landowners and tenants are given for the 34 principal land holdings, with field names in other ownership and tenancies where they are unique.

Tithe maps and tithe awards are invaluable for the history of villages, properties, families, agriculture and landscape in England and Wales in the period 1837 – 1852. Each piece of land or property has a reference number drawn on the map itself which is also recorded in the accompanying tithe award. In the tithe award the following details are given : name of landowner and occupiers, description of property, acreage and finally amount of rent charge payable.

This is one of a series of copies of tithe maps and awards from the Needwood Forest and south-eastern areas of Staffordshire drawn by Peter G. Stanley, F.I.C.E., F.C.I.W.E.M. of Edingale. As well as presenting all or most of the information on the original documents, these maps also include analysis of the information and other details about the parish or township concerned.
