Description:This may be the Irish Mail train locomotive on the London and North Western Railway, pictured at an unknown location in Cheshire. The tender does not have coal rails fitted: the London and North Western Railway started fitting coal rails to tenders from 1895 onwards. The locomotive appears to be a member of the Improved Precedent class. Unfortunately, , the number plate cannot be read.
