Description:Certificate of proficiency belonging to Eric Donald Torr (1923-1994) who was a private in 'E' Company, 8th Staffordshire (Burton) Battalion of the Home Guard during World War II. He was an apprentice upholsterer living with his parents and siblings at 26 Queen Street, Burton upon Trent at the time war broke out.

This certificate records his proficiency in the use of a rifle, grenade, Sten Gun, battlecraft and first aid.
