Description:Alan J. Cartwright, organist at the Church at Perton, 1982 to 2005. Soon after construction of housing on the former Perton Airfield site started in 1972, Church of England and United Reformed Church members, Anglicans and Methodists began meeting together for services, initially in each other's homes, and later in the Upper Room, the top floor of the former Control Tower. They then moved into the newly erected Community Centre. The Church at Perton was built in 1982, unusually catering for Anglican and free Church worshippers.
