Date:1930
Description:A postcard view of Hednesford's War Memorial. Note the two shells positioned at the front corners. It looks different without today's screen of birch trees behind. It was built on land at the edge of Hednesford Hills donated by the Marquis of Anglesey and funded by subscription. Fundraising was temporarily hindered by the coal strike of 1921. Supplied by Messrs W H Fraly & Sons of Birmingham, it was unveiled by The Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone (a granddaughter of Queen Victoria) on November 9th 1922. It, together with its gates, was Grade 2 listed in 2007. The dead of both World Wars and the Korean War are commemorated.
