Date:1902 - 1905 (c.)
Description:St Peters Parish Church, Hednesford was built on land donated by The Marquis of Anglesey and opened in 1868. it was built from stone from the Marquis's quarry at Etchinghill, Rugeley. Hednesford became was separated from Cannock to become an ecclesiastical parish in 1870. The north aisle and south porche were added in 1904-5 (probably just after these photographs were taken), built from Penkridge stone. The church had always suffered from mining subsidence, the gable end falling suddenly in 1921. Further damage in the 1930s necessitated underpinning. It was eventually demolished in 1986 and a new replacement built adjacent which opened in 1987. The chancel wall of the old church still stands alongside the new.
