Description:A postcard view of the Longford Crossroads on Watling Street (A5), Cannock.

Standing in the road is a motoring association patrolman (probably from the Automobile Association) in front of Longford House at the junction with the Cannock to Wolverhampton Road. He would probably have a motorcycle and sidecar nearby. It is said that if the AA man did not salute a member it indicated that there was a police speed trap nearby.

Longford House was home to the Gilpin family, locally based edge tool manufacturers. Several men on bicycles and a truck in the distance.
