Description:Page 31 of 'Drake Hall - A War-Time Hostel', a souvenir book produced for staff and residents at the Swynnerton Royal Ordinance Factory hostel at Drake Hall, produced in 1945.

The Sick Bay at Drake Hall, with photographs and caricatures of the medical staff: Dr. Young (Medical Officer), Miss Minshull (Resident Sister in Charge), Nurse Bennett , Nurse Bibby, Nurse Cooper, and Nurse Rimmer.

The poem reads:

"The M.O at Drake Hall

'Midst England's country lanes, by tall trees shaded,
There stands a Hostel by the name of Drake,
Its name recalling glories still unfaded,
When brave Sir Francis made the Spaniards quake.

Poets have rightly sung the fame and glory
Of England's heroes of the long ago.
Let us acclaim the unrecorded story,
The faithful service of our own M.O.

His quiet, unobtrusive, patient striving
'Gainsr countless germs that threaten and waylay,
With watchful care his charges' health reviving,
Hath he not earned our praise as well as they?

W. W. Shelley, 4/9/44"
