Description:This map shows the locations of shops in Newcastle-under-Lyme town centre and the usage of buildings in 1981. It shows shops such as: Video 80, Danny Jo Children's Clothes and Bird in Hand. Sainsbury's Supermarket and Kwik Save have been added to the top of the plan, on Liverpool Road since the 1977 survey. Another significant change since the 1977 survey is that the FH Burgess depot on Lower Street has gone and the land is about to be developed into the 'Fine Fare' supermarket.
