Date:1937

Description:The town planning scheme allocated areas or zones for different types of development such as residential, industry and public open space (the colour codes can be seen on the index map). Development had to comply with the Town Scheme and also shows principal road proposals and building area.

Only a very small area of Porthill is included in the planning scheme area of this map - you can see the blue boundary line on the left, and a small area of general industry (purple) where the sewage works were.

The majority of the map is not included in the planning scheme as is Burslem with Sneyd Green and Cobridge.

Digitisation funded by Heritage Lottery Fund.
