Date:1937

Description:The town planning scheme allocated areas or zones for different types of development such as residential, industry and public open space (the colour codes can be seen on the index map). Development had to comply with the Town Scheme and also shows principal road proposals and building areas.

About half of this map is included in the planning scheme; it shows large areas for housing (pink and orange) and large areas for public open space (striped green) going through Hands Wood and Baker's Wood.
The area shaded brown is indexed as 'deferred development' includes the Rifle Range and Rifle butts.

Digitisation funded by Heritage Lottery Fund.
