Description:A view along Sydney Street in Hanley. The first building on the right was a shop, once a grocer and draper's. At the end is Bexley Street. Between the houses are entries to the back alley which ran behind the terraced houses. Most of the houses have X and H television aerials used with 405 line black & white TV sets before then advent of higher definition 625 line service in 1954. An original gas street lamp can be seen in the bottom left. The area has been cleared of housing.
