Description:A detailed view of an old oak beam with a running vine pattern carved along it. The beam supported the Great Hall Gallery above and was situated in an area known as the “Screens” (a space under the Great Hall Gallery). The beam and raftered ceiling is thought to date from around Henry VIII’s time, but added to the “Screens” during the renovations after the 1909 fire.
