Date:1919

Description:Originally the Housekeeper's Room, this half basement room later became known as the Guard Room, which was situated by the east front entrance door. The Jacobean panelling was newly introduced and had flat strapwork carving on pilasters. The stone floor was covered by rush matting and the simple pieces of old oak furniture completed the impression of an Elizabethan or Jacobean room.
