Description:Diesel locomotive 25306 leaves Leekbrook Junction for Oakamoor.

Sand was carried from Hepworth's Sand quarry at Oakamoor to St Helens, Merseyside for Pilkington glass. The sand was very fine and carried in open wagons, some was blown off onto the track as seen in this photograph. The last "sand train" from BIS (British Industrial Sand) ran down the Churnet Valley in 1988.
