Description:Sir Geoffrey Cecil Congreve, was born in 1897 at Alverstoke, Hampshire. He was the son of General Sir Walter Norris Congreve, and Cecilia Henrietta Dolores La Touche. He gained the title of 1st Baronet Congreve of Stafford. A Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Navy,he died on 28 July 1941, killed in a commando raid on the French coast . He is commemorated in Penkridge church.
