Description:This photograph was taken shortly before the buildings were demolished and later replaced by a retail shopping park. Originally built as a stable block, these buildings were later converted into accommodation for the chauffeur Mr Podmore and his family. The top floor was a flat known as the Old Hough Flat. The garage was used to keep Sir George Nelson’s second Rolls Royce. The doorway on the right of the garage was the door which led to a concrete staircase up to the flat. In the mid-20th century the ground floor was used by Mr Rhodes, head gardener, and George Hamner his assistant

The block also included a bakery and laundry.
