Description:Space travel was very topical during 1969 and 1970 - the first man to walk on the Moon was on 21 July 1969.

Space was the theme for this display of Clarks Footwear. Prior to his journey, an 'Astronaut' is calling home to say that he will be be taking his Clarks Shoes - for all occasions.

The 'Astronauts' suit is made from overalls with packing and painted with emulsion, the helmet base round his neck was recycled from an old washing machine, this base, the gloves, boots and hosepipe attached to the helmet base are all sprayed with silver paint.

The mannequins were made by Adele Rootstein, London, a leading manufacturer of the day. Many were modelled from famous people.

The Display Manager was Mr Ray Fowler.

This window display was located at the corner of Crabbery Street and Princes Street Precinct.
