Description:Beer bottle label advertising Bent's Brown Ale. Bent's Brewery was established in Newcastle-under-Lyme in the 1790s by William Bent. The business remained in Newcastle until 1936, when manufacture transferred to Liverpool. The company expanded in the late nineteenth century to include the J. Salmon Brewery. In 1902 Thomas Montgomery's new brewery, on Mount Road in Stone, was purchased. In 1967 Bents became part of Bass Brewery. The Stone site was gradually run down and closed in 1972.
