Description:Studio portrait of John Rupert Lock, son of William Lock and Maria Hatton, born summer 1884 in West Bromwich . At the time of the 1901 Census he was residing at 148 Hartshill, Stoke on Trent and gave his occupation as an Electric Car (Tram) Conductor and his place of birth as Handsworth, Staffordshire. He migrated to Australia with his widowed mother and brother Albert Richard Lock and sister Beatrice Maud Lock, arriving in Brisbane on the Orient ship "Oruba" on 3rd December 1908. He lived in Murgon, Queensland at first, then at Toorbul (Caboolture), Queensland. He married Charlotte Weaver in 1916.
