Description:Police tunics from the 1920s. From the left the uniforms belong to the rank of Superintendent, Inspector and Sergeant. Belts were not withdrawn from most forces until the 1960s. Note the pill-box style forage caps. On the right the Police Constable wears a great coat and helmet. The traditional British police helmet was introduced by the Metropolitan Police Force in 1863.
