Description:'Camellia' plate produced by Johnson Brothers. The company began when Alfred and Frederick began producing earthenware at the Charles Street Works in Hanley in 1883. Later, they were joined by two other Johnson brothers, Henry and Robert. By 1898 the company operated from five sites: as well as the Charles Street Works, production took place at the Imperial Works, Hanley Works and Trent Works (all in Hanley) and the Scotia Road works in Tunstall. In 1968 the company joined the Wedgwood Group. United Kingdom production ended in 2003.
