Police information room, Baswich Stafford

Description:The interior of the information room at the police head quarters situated at Baswich house in c1976.
The information room took all 99 calls and radio contact with the patrol cars for the police service. They covered an area from Stoke-On-Trent to Tipton.

The duty officer was usually a police inspector but the rest of the staff were civilian and covered just four telephones between them.
Control of the cars was operated from one central radio. The cars had named codes with Stafford patrols all being " Tango ".
The lady seated on the right of the photograph is Mrs. Frances Heath who worked at the Police Headquarters for many years.
