Description:CASE XIV. Nathanial Dawson, of Burslem

An Agent of the Hanley Water-works who collected water rent. He claims he had to receive Goods in lieu of money for rent.

He expressed the futility of taking legal action. Tenants were unable to pay him money because they themselves had been paid in Truck.

CASE XV. Daniel Hollinshead, Potter, of Burslem

Working for a Truck Master he received half of his wages in goods that were charged at a far higher price than their actual market value.

He had to pay his rent with goods.

CASE XVI. John James, Shoe-maker of Burslem

Explains that he often had to take goods as payment and had recently had to do this for a worker employed by Messrs. R. and J. Clews, of Cobridge.

CASE XVII. Thomas Bennett, of Burslem, in the County of Stafford, Druggist

This pharmacist explains that he had to take goods as payment from a man seeking Medical Relief because the man had been paid in Truck.

CASE XVIII. Enoch Stevenson, of Sneyd Green

Paid in Truck, he gives examples of the inflated prices he had to pay for the goods.
