Description:The Staffordshire Historic Environment Record (HER) is an important source of information for anyone undertaking research on the history or archaeology of Staffordshire, whether at an academic level, for school projects or simply through personal interest. It includes information on archaeological sites and monuments, historic buildings and structures and the historic landscape in Staffordshire. The HER currently has over 12 000 records on a diverse range of sites, from Scheduled prehistoric hillforts and Listed manor houses to more discreet buried archaeological features identified from aerial photographs as well as other less obvious buildings and structures such as 2nd World War pillboxes. This map is an extract of the HER for the Armitage area showing the location of known monuments, features and buildings from the Prehistoric, Roman, Saxon, Medieval and post-medieval periods. Each is labelled with its unique HER reference number.
