Description:The town planning scheme allocated areas or zones for different types of development such as residential, industry and public open space (the colour codes can be seen on the index map). Development had to comply with the Town Scheme and also shows principal road proposals and building areas.
This map of Clayton shows large areas proposed for housing (pink, orange and blue), areas for public open space (striped green) and deferred development (brown).
Some proposed housing has been drawn on along what is now known as Northwood Lane, but the rest of the land has been earmarked for later development.
Some of the land on the left hand side of the map was not built on until around the 1980s and is known as Westbury Park. You can also see Rowley Wood which today is locally known as Bunny Hill.
