No. 2, Crabbery Street, Stafford

Description:This view looks east from Chapel Street. The large three-storey building in the centre of the picture is the back of No. 2 Crabbery Street which had a 19th century front and a 17th century rear. The right-hand section of the building faces Crabbery Street.

Redevelopment was planned for most of this area. This photograph was taken in 1962 and in the foreground several buildings have already been demolished, and the site is being used as a temporary car park. During 1963, No. 2 and several other buildings in Crabbery Street were demolished to make way for a large new extension to the Co-op store which fronted nearby on Gaolgate Street.
