Description:Looking west on Main Road, Milford. The housing on the left still stands (2026) now with a shop unit attached to the left side. On the right is the entrance to Milford Hall Cricket Club.

In this scene four women and two male cyclists, along with several watching children, pose for the camera in the traffic-free road. The women have full-length skirts and wear hats. Their cycles have enclosed guarded chains and the men's does not.

The postcard was published by W. Shaw of Burslem. It was posted in Manchester on 27 August 1906 at 8.30 a.m. to an address in Weaste near Salford. The writer says that he is sorry he can't visit this afternoon, safe in the knowledge that the recipient will receive the message in time later that same day. Around the time this postcard was sent there were usually several daily postal collections and deliveries. Therefore, it was possible to send a message early in the morning and it could be delivered later the same day.
