Description:Beaudesert Camp for Guides and Scouts was opened by H.R.H. The Princess Royal on 2nd July 1938 in the grounds of what had been the Beaudesert Hall estate, the former Staffordshire home of the Paget’s, Marquesses of Anglesey.

In November of that year a luncheon was held for principal visitors to inspect the site as a preliminary to a County Dinner to be held that evening in Stafford to stimulate interest in Scouting and Guiding. The Camp House was then described as: 'all that remains of the historic Beaudesert Hall'. The photograph shows the Guide Camp House which utilised the last remaining portion of Beaudesert Hall, which was being largely demolished in the early to mid-1930s. Some ruins of the hall can be seen on the right in the background. It was eventually abandoned due to its condition and demolished. The octagonal building on the left was a separate wing of the adjacent hall.

Photographed by the Evening Sentinel.

Beaudesert Park is an area of historic parkland, within which are the ruins of Beaudesert Hall, a walled kitchen garden, remains of a stable block, an icehouse, ponds and cascades. The parkland is located on the eastern edge of Cannock Chase, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and comprises part of the country estate owned by generations of the Paget family between 1546 and 1935. The Beaudesert Trust own and manage Beaudesert Park and welcomes youth organisations, such as Scouts and Guides, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Youth Clubs and Schools, colleges and university groups. Beaudesert Park is used for various outdoor activities and educational experiences.
