Date:1966
Description:On the left is Castle Street, Stafford, with a part view of the Castle Tavern which fronted Doxey Road on the right. This scene is largely unchanged except that the Tavern is now 'Simply Bilash' Restaurant (2026). Castle Street led to W.G. Bagnalls 'Castle Engine Works' locomotive manufactory which had recently (1962) closed at the time of this photograph taken in 1966. Their employees and families, together with those of railway workers would have been the Tavern's main clientele.
