Description:This terrace of eight houses (there may originally have been ten) is of a type known as 'Municipal Cottages' dating from 1900.

These are all that remains of Victorian workers’ houses in the nearby streets which were demolished to accommodate the Guildhall Centre and Stafford College buildings. Out of shot of the camera to the right is Chell Road where the last two houses of the terrace wrap around the corner, and the Lamb Inn.

Municipal housing was social housing for rent provided by a local council. They may have provided homes for tenants of demolished sub-standard homes. The earliest municipal housing in Stafford dated from 1890. Other municipal cottages still exist (2025) in Crooked Bridge Road.
